Keith Urban has released "The Fighter" as the fifth single from his newest album, Ripcord. The song features a fellow country superstar: Carrie Underwood.

"The Fighter" is written in a call-and-response style, so it sounds as though Urban and Underwood are replying back and forth to one another in the song's chorus. Readers can press play below to listen.

“Writing "The Fighter" came pretty quickly," Urban says in a press release. "I could hear most of the song already in my head on the ride to the studio that day, where busbee and I were already working. I was thinking about how long it’d been since I heard a song with a guy and girl actually speaking back and forth to each other."

Together, Urban and Underwood have a total of 11 Grammys, not to mention countless other CMAs and ACMs, so it's no surprise that the song works well.

“It comes from a very real place,” says Urban. “It’s a song about helping to heal and protect someone you love. It’s a song about reassurance that you'll always be there to take the blows the world can throw. Carrie and I had sung together before, and I thought our voices blended really well -- so she was unquestionably the right choice. It was such a relief that she wanted to do it.”

Urban and Underwood recently toured Australia and New Zealand together, in December, much to the delight of fans Down Under. On Sunday night (Feb. 12), they'll be performing "The Fighter" together at the 2017 Grammy Awards; the show will take place in Los Angeles, with The Late Late Show host James Corden hosting the televised ceremony, which will begin at 8PM ET on CBS. The pre-telecast Premiere Ceremony will begin at 3:30PM ET and be available to stream online.
