Tuscaloosa City Council Special Election Results
The seat that has been empty at Tuscaloosa City Council meetings since January now has an occupant.
Richard Henry defeated Doug Parrish in today's special election, with Henry receiving 1,318 votes to Parrish's 473. All vote totals are currently unofficial. As of current vote totals, only 14% of eligible voters cast a ballot.

Henry succeeds Norman Crow, who vacated the seat on Jan. 27 when he won the Alabama House District 63 position in a Jan. 13 special election.
Henry, a lifelong resident of Tuscaloosa, is the owner of Right Space Commercial Real Estate. Since graduating from UA, Henry has spent his career in property management and redevelopment. He has worked to rehabilitate neglected multi-family housing and redevelop vacant commercial properties.
During the campaign, Henry received the endorsement of the influential Home Builders Association of Tuscaloosa.
Henry has regularly attended City Council and zoning meetings while also working with various local organizations.
During the campaign, Henry emphasized responsible growth, public safety, and ensuring neighborhoods receive their fair share of city resources and infrastructure investment.
Council District 3 includes much of Tuscaloosa north of the Black Warrior River.
The city council did not meet this week due to the special election. Henry will be sworn in and take his seat for the first time at next Tuesday's meeting.
