Chick-fil-A Shakes Things Up: Bite This! Reviews New Menu Item
Chick-fil-A is shaking things up a bit with their new menu item, the Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich. “It features an original Chick-fil-A filet drizzled with honey, topped with pimento cheese and served on a warm, toasted bun with mild pickled jalapeños.”
Chick-fil-A You Had Me at Pimento Cheese
I’m a '70s baby, so pimento cheese was a thing back then. My folks would host game parties and the menu included pimento cheese dip for those fancy wheat crackers and mini pimento cheese sandwiches.
However, pimento cheese has been around for a long time. “The two ingredients were finally brought together in 1908 in a Good Housekeeping recipe for cream cheese, mustard, chives, and minced pimentos," said Southern Living.
Have You Tried the New Menu Item at Chick-fil-A?
One of my Facebook friends admitted that she had the new sandwich three times in the same week. So, Bite This! had to see what the hype was all about.
Taste:
One word, delectable.
Honestly, I was worried about the jalapeños portion of this sandwich. But, the mild pickled jalapeños really works in combo with the honey top chicken and pimento cheese.
In my first bite, I could see why my friend went back for it 3 times.
I might go back and get it again tonight.
Texture:
The star of the show is the delicate but hearty pimento cheese. It’s perfectly layered on top of the honey-drizzled original Chick-fil-A filet. It absolutely works.
Value:
My combo meal was right at $12, which is about normal for pricing at Chick-fil-A.
Overall:
The tasting profile will give you the warm bun and then the kick of the pimento. As you continue you get the slightly sweet (the honey) then savory chicken, and then the pickled jalapeños provide a little taste snap at the end.
It’s a hit. However, I’m sad that it’s listed as a limited time for a seasonal feature.
