The transfer portal gives and takes, and this time, Alabama is the one taking as former Samford infielder Garret Staton has committed to the Crimson Tide.

After two solid years in Homewood, Staton had a breakout 2024 campaign, posting a 1.023 OPS with 19 home runs, 19 doubles, and 69 RBIs. The righty also provides some speed on the basepaths, swiping seven bags for the Bulldogs last season.

In his two matchups against the Crimson Tide this season, Staton racked up three hits on ten at-bats, adding three RBIs and one home run.

With Gage Miller potentially headed to the MLB draft after a stellar junior season, Staton could be the Crimson Tide's replacement at the hot corner headed into 2025.
