Kelsea Ballerini and the Chainsmokers are cooking up something special. The country singer and pop/EDM duo have shared a series of Twitter exchanges over the past two years, hinting that a collaboration between the two acts could be here very soon.

On Tuesday (Sept. 4), Ballerini responded to the duo, who originally reached out asking, "Kelsea, you think they're ready?"

Her reply? "I’ll tell you a story before it tells itself..."

This isn't the first time the singers had an exchange over social media. In 2016 the duo reached out to the singer in a since-deleted tweet, saying they wanted to "hang" with the "I Hate Love Songs" singer.

"It's like you're READING MY MIND. I'm in," Ballerini responded.

No word on whether this hang was in the studio, or when their possible track will see the light of day—but we're hoping soon!

The Chainsmokers are well known for their collaborations across genres. In 2017, they teamed up with Florida Georgia Line on a song called "Last Day Alive" featured on the Chainsmokers' debut album Memories...Do Not Open. This was far from their first guest feature though. The Chainsmokers have previously worked with Halsey in 2016 on their chart topping hit “Closer” as well as 2017's "Something Just Like This" featuring Chris Martin of Coldplay.

Perhaps Ballerini was getting some pointers on the Chainsmokers from Halsey during a July concert stop in Nashville. The country singer attended the pop star's show in Music City and after the set, the two met up at Santa's Pub to belt some karaoke together into the early morning.
