How to Keep Your Jeans From Fading
I got a couple pair of new Levis from Santa Clause. I've worn them several times since Christmas so that means I have washed them several times. I can honestly say I have never read the wash instructions tag on any pair of jeans that I have ever owned until today.
My new jeans came with 4 tags sewn inside above the right front pocket. One of the tags was really long and would stick out when I tucked in my shirt. I finally got tired of it the morning and broke out my pocket knife and sliced the tags out. Why so many?
I noticed the washing instructions on one of the tags: "Wash and Dry Inside Out" .
I never knew this. I thought "hmmm, maybe that keeps your jeans from fading". I did a quick Google search and found a few tips to add the that one.
How to keep you jeans from fading:
- Wash inside out
- Soak in cold water and 1 cup of vinegar for 30 min prior to washing - It sets the dye in your jeans.
- Hang Dry.
That's it. Vinegar and cold water? How easy is that? I'm gonna start this next time we wash 'dark clothes'. Do you have any tips to add?
