Alabama moved to 4-0 over the weekend after its first top-25 victory of the season, but there's still work to do. We heard it after the game on Saturday and Nick Saban continued sending the message on Monday during his weekly press conference.

"We have to be more consistent on both sides of the ball in our ability to run the ball and not make critical errors," Saban said. "And basically in special teams, when we follow fundamental techniques we do a pretty good job of executing. Sometimes when we don't, obviously had too many penalties in that part of the game."

This weeks opponent will provide a chance to get some of those issues corrected. Alabama is a 50-point favorite over Louisiana, a team coached by former Saban assistant Billy Napier.

"Yeah I think Billy is a very bright guy and a very good football coach. Works hard and I think he'll make a really good head coach. I think he did a really good job here for us."

Here's what else Saban discussed during the press conference:

  • What Louisiana does well and what he's seen from Billy Napier's team.
  • How they handled defensive substitutions on Saturday and why he couldn't play as many players as he would have liked.
  • Changes that will be coming to the corner of the endzones to prevent injuries like what happened to Dylan Moses and the security guard.
  • How the younger linebackers are progressing.
  • Defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs' development and how he performed on Saturday.
  • How does the staff get the penalties corrected in practice.
  • Punter Skyler DeLong's confidence in the kicking game.
  • What tight end Hale Hentges means to the team.
