Florida Georgia Line Say Forthcoming Duet With Jason Aldean Is ‘a Big Ol’ Smash’
Country superstars Florida Georgia Line and Jason Aldean have an impressive track record of churning out hits together: FGL, comprised of Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley, have written several of Aldean's most popular songs, such as "Lights Come On," "Burnin' It Down" and, most recently, "You Make It Easy." But their forthcoming duet -- which will appear on Florida Georgia Line's next album -- will be their first true collaboration.
With plenty of practice in working together under their belts, Kelley says recording with Aldean felt natural: "We had a really good time in the studio," he explains. "That was one of a few collaborations we've done where we were in the studio together -- you know, all there. There was definitely magic in the room."
Kelley goes on to say that the song benefited from Aldean's songwriting chops as well as his expertise as a singer: "It felt good already, but he wrote the thing to life," Kelley continues. "I think we presented it in a way that's different, that's fresh.
"I just think it can't come out soon enough," he adds. "I think it's a big ol' smash."
For his part, Aldean says he's excited about the song's potential as a live performance, especially because the new song will differ from "You Make It Easy" in at least one major way: "It's an uptempo thing," he reveals.
"I always love those songs," Aldean adds, "because not only is it great for a live show, but if we get the chance to do something like an awards show --"
"Or a big tour," Hubbard interjects.
"Anything like that, where [I] have the chance to come out during one of their shows ... and do a collaboration thing that [the fans] aren't expecting -- it just to me seems a lot more fun," Aldean continues. "The ballads and things like that sometimes are the bigger songs, as far as how many they sell or whatever, but these songs to me are more fun. They make me excited about the possibilities, as far as how we could get together at some point and perform these live."
