Nashville singer-songwriter Cherie Oakley is premiering the music video for her cover of Kelly Clarkson’s song “Piece By Piece” exclusively for readers of The Boot. Press play above to watch.

A reality TV alumna as herself -- Oakley competed during Season 1 of The Voice, while Clarkson is, of course, the original American Idol winner -- Oakley brings Clarkson-style power vocals to her stripped-down, subdued cover of "Piece By Piece." In its accompanying music video, she pores through her own family history: The clip features shots of old photographs of Oakley and her family from when she was a child.

Clarkson originally co-wrote and recorded "Piece By Piece" for her 2015 album of the same name; the song reached the Top 10 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. Oakley has toured with Clarkson, as a background vocalist; she's also done the same with Carrie Underwood and Gretchen Wilson.

During her time on The Voice, Oakley joined Christina Aguilera's team, but was eliminated early on in the competition, during the Battle Rounds. In 2011, Oakley scored a No. 1 hit as a songwriter with "Turn on the Radio," recorded by Reba McEntire. She is currently working on new music, which is expected to arrive sometime in 2017.

Readers can keep up with Oakley's goings-on via her official website.
