Chase Lee Named to Stopper of the Year Watch List

Alabama baseball relief pitcher Chase Lee has been named to the midseason watch list of Stopper of the Year by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. The award is presented annually to the country’s best relief pitcher.

Lee is one of 65 pitchers that were put on the midseason watch list. The finalists will be revealed on June 9^th and the winner will be announced during the College World Series on June 19^th.

Going into last weekend’s Kentucky series, Lee had only given up one run with .34 ERA through 24 innings pitched. He was 6-0 on the season. Unfortunately, Sunday night the Tide just couldn’t get things rolling. Lee gave up three homers when he came into the game to relieve Landon Greene and Alabama lost 11-0.

Currently, Lee is tied for fourth in the SEC and 20^th nationally in wins. He has appeared in a team-high of 14 games, pitching through 25 innings with a team-low 1.44 ERA. Lee started off the 2021 season pitching through 20.1 innings without allowing a single run. His first allowed run came during the Auburn series on April 17^th. Lee has also recorded a high of 37 strikeouts as a junior thus far.

Lee was first named to the NCBWA’s Stopper of the Year Watch List at the beginning of the 2021 season, but was officially selected to the watch list April 28^th by the association.
