According to NationalDay.com, six out of ten pet owners consider their pet a member of the family. So it's only natural we'd celebrate 'National Pet Day!'

Dog people, cat people, fish people, bird people, whatever, we love our animals. We talk to them like kids, treat them like kids and unlike our kids, they get to fetch and poop in a box.

I've always been a "cat person." Not because I don't like dogs but due to the fact that my schedule is usually hectic and cats tend to be less needy and a little more self-sufficient than dogs. For the most part, my cat Sushi is in her own world and only requires the occasional treat and head rub.

When she does feel the need for petting, she has a way of letting me know.
