‘Better Call Saul’ Has Officially Been Better Called for Season 3
Lest you think AMC had in mind to abandon the journey from Better Call Saul to Breaking Bad midway through Jimmy McGill’s transformation, there’s no need to call a new lawyer just yet. Bob Odenkirk will continue breaking bad through a third season of Better Call Saul, creative team and all.
AMC confirmed the official Season 3 renewal midway through the second season run, noting that original creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould will as co-showrunners for another ten episodes. Says the network:
What Vince, Peter, Bob and the entire team have accomplished with ‘Better Call Saul’ is truly rare and remarkable. They have taken one of the most iconic, immersive and fan-obsessive (in the best possible way) shows in television history and created a prequel that stands on its own.
Watching Jimmy McGill’s thoughtful, melodic and morally flexible transformation into Saul Goodman is entertaining and delighting millions of fans, whether their starting point was ‘Breaking Bad’ or not. This series has its own feel, pace and sensibility and we can’t wait to see what this incredibly talented group comes up with next in season three.
Of course, that hasn’t stopped Better Call Saul from returning a number of Breaking Bad characters to its prequel tale, and it’s even likely Season 3 will see us spending an entire episode in a post-Walter White world. Season 2 will continue this coming Monday.
