Alabama State Trooper Delivers Baby On I-59 In Tuscaloosa
An Alabama State Trooper was working a crash site on I-59 in Tuscaloosa County when a motorist reached out for help for a passenger in active labor.
Trooper Richard Pittman jumped into action and began coordinating directions with the EMS via his cellphone. Pittman aided in delivering the baby and kept the family calm until the ambulance arrived to transport the family to DCH Regional Medical Center.
"Trooper Pittman's commitment and dedication to the citizens of Alabama was not only illustrated by his actions today but by his actions everyday. In November of 2015, Trooper Pittman received a Governor's Commendation for helping a veteran who was suffering from PTSD. Trooper Pittman exemplifies the mission of an Alabama State Trooper, and of law enforcement as a whole -- to serve and protect," Secretary of Law Enforcement Stan Stabler said in a press release.
Mom and baby are doing fine.
