Senior 4-star quarterback Ty Simpson put on a dominant display of offense in his first game of the season with the Westview Chargers. Simpson threw five touchdowns and ran in another en route to a 48-13 victory.

In total, Simpson passed for 325 yards and rushed for another 107 yards and accounted for six touchdowns on the night. Over 400 yards of total offense, largely in the first half of play, for the Alabama commit.

Simpson committed to the Crimson Tide in February and has been a driving force in attracting recruits to come join him. The 6-foot-2, 185 pound quarterback is considered the No. 4 overall quarterback in the 2022 class.

As a junior he threw for 1,888 yards with 20 touchdowns and only four interceptions. The Chargers finished 7-5 last season in Class 3A Region 7, Simpson will be key to Westview's success in 2021.

The quarterback is the son of UT-Martin head coach Jason Simpson. Simpson received his initial scholarship offer in June of 2019 after attending one of Nick Saban's summer camps. Simpson took an unofficial visit to the Capstone in September of 2019 as a sophomore and spent several weekends in Tuscaloosa this summer once in-person recruiting returned.

Simpson hopes to follow the string of successful quarterbacks at Alabama. The Crimson Tide has put three quarterbacks into the NFL in the last two seasons and can potentially have another with Bryce Young in the years to come.
