Alabama baseball (10-2) fell from the number 23 spot to the number 24 spot in Baseball America's latest rankings. The Crimson Tide played four games this week, going 3-1.

Alabama took on Troy in a midweek game Wednesday, dominating the Trojans 9-1 behind a strong start from pitcher Connor Shamblin, a huge offensive third inning, and some exciting defensive plays.

The Crimson Tide then traveled to College of Charleston to take on the Cougars in a three game weekend series. 'Bama outscored Charleston 29-4 over the three games. On Friday, another Peyton Wilson homer and a stifling start from Tyler Ras lead Alabama to an 8-0 series start.

They dropped Saturday's matchup 1-0 to go 2-1 in the series. Dylan Smtih took the loss for Saturday despite only giving up the one run in his seven innings pitched.

The offense showed up in a big way Sunday, scoring a whopping 21 runs and allowing head coach Brad Bohannon to empty the bench and get some younger players more playing time.

Even though Alabama took care of business in three of four games this week, they dropped one spot in the rankings due to the lack of offensive production on Saturday. The Crimson Tide will have six more non-conference games before entering SEC play on March 19 in Fayetteville against the number one team in the country, the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Six of the top ten spots in the rankings belong to SEC teams, including the top four. The ranked SEC teams behind Arkansas are 2. Mississippi State, 3. Vanderbilt, 4. Ole Miss, 6. Florida, 10. South Carolina, 23. Tennessee, and 24. Alabama rounding out the conference.

Alabama will have to quickly find out who they are as a team to compete in the undoubted top conference in baseball at this point in the young 2021 season. Five home games in six days this week will hopefully help them do that.

Alabama will play South Alabama Tuesday at 6 p.m., Jacksonville State Wednesday at 6 p.m., and Stetson in the weekend series.
