Add Some Magic to Your Child’s Life this Winter with a Special Fairy Doorway [VIDEO]
Looking for a way to brighten up your child's life this dreary winter? I've found the solution: a fun fairy doorway! I found our special fairy door at Michael's here in Tuscaloosa, and I L-O-V-E it. My daughter and I have had so much fun with our fairy door; I can't keep it a secret any longer!
I picked up a pink "My Fairy Doorways" set for my four-year-old, Dolly, this Christmas. The pink and sparkly packaging caught her eye, so I picked up the box to find out what this little doorway really was... and I was immediately impressed, y'all.
A "My Fairy Doorways" set comes with one wooden door, a door hanger, stickers, gem decals, notes, envelopes, and a special story book. There's even a special instruction book that's labeled "for adult eyes only." It's PRECIOUS.
Here's the deal: you and your child use the gems to decorate the fairy doorway and hang the little wooden door on the wall of your child's room. You can use stickers to decorate the area around the door, too. It's a fun way to spend a rainy afternoon, and it's great to see your little one get creative with the stickers and gems. (You can see the fairy doorway in Dolly's room in the photo above.)
The fun doesn't end there--in fact, decorating the door is just the beginning! You and your child read the storybook together. You get to learn about your child's special fairy friend--the book explains the magic of the fairy world: your child's fairy can use the special door to leave the fairy world and enter our world, and your fairy can leave letters and special fairy magic for your child.
You use the enclosed notes and envelopes to write letters to your fairy. Dolly's fairy friend is named Ella, and Dolly really enjoys writing to Ella. You don't have to use the envelopes--if your kiddo gets into the whole fairy thing as much as mine, you'll run out of those bad boys pretty quickly. Check out this sweet little letter that Dolly wrote Ella. (Grammar disclosure: I try to write down exactly what Dolly says so I can remember her little speech patterns; I know I'll find these letters one day when she's a snotty teenager and cry, so OF COURSE I have to save them all!)
The best part of all of this? Getting mail from our fairy! (*wink wink to my parents out there; y'all get how this works by now, right?**) It's adorable to see how psyched Dolly gets when she sees a new letter from Ella in the fairy doorway. Check out our latest Fairy Xpress Delivery.
I really like the set we bought; however, you could buy any one of the bajillion fairy doorways that are on the market and get the same results. Heck, you could even make your own fairy doorway!
I think it's a fun and creative idea. I love that our fairy, Ella, encourages my daughter to change her behavior and be a kind young lady, and I think there's something to be said about instilling a love for the lost art of letter writing in our little ones! Plus, I know our fairy doorway will see a lot more action in a year or two when Dolly starts losing her baby teeth...
I think I've written enough about our fairy doorway, so I'll let my daughter take it from here. Check out what Dolly has to say in the video below... (and yes, she's wearing a swimsuit. She had a sick day today, so we transformed her bedroom into a beach party to brighten her mood.)
