I had the opportunity to go to the Woods and Water 29th Annual Tuscaloosa Chapter National Wild Turkey Federation Hunting Heritage Banquet. Yeah, It's a mouth full and the Tuscaloosa River Market was full too. The NWTF Banquet sold out at around 330 seats.

With Woods & Water as the Title Sponsor, there were also 18 $1,000 sponsor tables, seven $600 sponsor tables and 40 $300 sponsors! The temp was cold and the line was long we we arrived at 6:30p. There was great food form Robertson's BBQ and great company. All for a great cause, Save the Habit. Save the Hunt. From nwtf.org:

When the NWTF was founded in 1973, there were approximately 1.5 million wild turkeys in North America. After 40 years of dedicated work, that number hit a historic high of almost 7 million turkeys.

In recent years, however, national turkey populations have been declining – just one of the challenges the hunting community faces today.

We are at a critical juncture in the future of wildlife habitat conservation and the preservation of our hunting heritage. The NWTF is ready for the challenge and will be a leader for the next 40 years, standing as one team with one mission. Your continued support is essential.

Money is raised from ticket sales, table sponsors, silent auctions on items donated, and actual auctions led by an auctioneer. Mr. Bev Leigh is back as the Chapter President. In fact, he was the chapter's first president in the 1980's! This years banquet had over 100 more seats sold than previous banquets.

Lots of folks went home happy with prizes and auctioned items. We weren't lucky on the prizes but had a great time. I'm looking forward to the next one!
