My 14 month old, Charlie, had her ear tube surgery Monday at Northport DCH. It was as quick as everyone said it would be. Here are a few things to expect.

We arrived close to 11:00 Monday morning and got signed in. They called Charlie back pretty fast. took her weight and height then set her up in a room. She was a bit restless. She was hungry too because we were instructed not to feed her anything after midnight. She had last eaten at 9pm Sunday night. They told us we could give her clear liquid so she got apple juice at 7:30 Monday morning.

We sat in out room for a about an hour and a half. Charlie was given Versed to calm her down before the nurses came to take her back. She was definitely calm:

Our anesthesiologist let us know that Charlie would likely be in a bad mood as the medicine started to wear off after the surgery but she would be back to 'normal' in a few hours. Dr. Stephenson did the surgery. It took about 15 min from the time took  her from her room til they brought her back. (I know because a ran a stopwatch on my phone). Everything went fine.

She was in a pretty bad mood when they brought her back. She cried for 30 min then fell asleep. She took an nap on the home and barley woke up as we laid her in her crib. She did wake up to her 'normal self' and ate an entire slice of cheese pizza!

Thanks to the great doctors and nurses at Northport DCH!
