Before former Miss Alabama, Katherine Webb, was launched into super stardom, myself and my morning show co-host, Scott Shepherd, had the opportunity to spend some time with her back stage at the Runway for Relief Fashion Show.

Putting her status as Miss Alabama to good use, Katherine had agreed to participate in the show to help continued fund raising efforts for Tuscaloosa after the deadly April 27th tornadoes.

Long before she caught the nation's (or Brent Musburger's) eye during the BCS National Championship game, Ms. Webb was as warm and humble as one would hope an ambassador for their state would be. She took a few moments to talk with me about the pins that adorned her sash before she walked the runway in a University of Alabama student designed dress.

Thank GOD I resisted the devil on my shoulder who suggested I snatch the Auburn pin off, hurl it to the ground, and repeatedly stomp it until the sparkly broach lay in a crumpled, withered mass of metal.
