World’s Largest Bubble Gum Bubble — Strange Alabama

41 year old Chad Fell of Haleyville, Alabama decided he was going to get his name in the Guinness Book of World Records. He rose to the challenge and met it by setting the record for the largest unassisted bubble blown from chewing gum. Fell held the bubble which measured twenty inches in diameter, for five minutes.

Fell prepared for the challenge for years by chewing two bags of Double Bubble each week. In the May 2009 issue of Reader's Digest, he offered some tips on being a successful bubble blower: bubbles expand more in warm temperatures, chew gum for at least 15 minutes before attempting to blow one (sugar decreases elasticity) and chew on the side of your mouth.
