Watch Deontay Wilder Destroy Bermane Stiverne with a First Round Knockout
Deontay Wilder said it after the fight. There's not a single man he's faced in the ring that he hasn't knocked out.
The WBC heavyweight champ defended his belt on Saturday night in Brooklyn with a destructive first round knockout of challenger Bermane Stiverne. Wilder's record moves to 39-0 with 38 of those coming by knockout. The only decision came against Stiverne in their first fight that gave Wilder the title for the first time.
The Tuscaloosa native left little doubt about his power with this performance. He went after Stiverne right out of the opening bell and actually knocked the challenger down three times before the ref called the fight. The final knockdown left Stiverne folded up on the mat.
Now the question is whether a fight with the other heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua, will be next. Wilder has called for an opportunity to unify the belts for months, and he might soon get the opportunity.
