Phillip Phillips, out. Tate Stevens, in! The 2012 'American Idol' winner is being replaced by the 2012 'X Factor' winner on Fox's 'New Year's Eve Live!' event.

Due to a scheduling snafu, Phillips is dropping out of his planned performance on the celebratory special, and Stevens, who was crowned the Season 2 winner of 'X Factor' earlier this month, will step in.

The 90-minute broadcast will be hosted by Marlon Wayons and it originates from the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, according to EW.

Other performers besides country crooner Stevens include rock band Lifehouse and actress-turned-singer Carmen Electra.

2012 has been one helluva year for Stevens, 37, who won the 'X Factor' title despite certain odds against him, like his age. Some music industry types viewed him as too old to jumpstart his career, but he regularly topped the fan-voted leaderboard and eventually won, so there!

Stevens is capping the year off in style by performing on a national stage and ushering in 2013. With a new album and a move to Nashville on the horizon for the singer, 2013 should dwarf 2012, at least in terms of his good fortune.

Congrats again to Tate Stevens, Season 2 winner of 'X Factor.' We look forward to seeing more of him in 2013.
