The Walking Dead isn’t generally known for practical stunts, but with Season 8 gearing up for “All Out War,” it stands to reason physical action would increase. As such, the unfortunate hospitalization of stuntman John Bernecker has necessitated Season 8 production take a temporary hiatus.

It’s been quite some time since the chaos of The Walking Dead losing showrunners, but co-creator Frank Darabont’s legal war with AMC rages on. A newly-public cache of summary judgments, depositions and more puts some of Darabont’s exit in context, including some intense email exchanges before the firing.

The zombie genre wouldn’t exist without Dawn of the Dead creator George Romero laying post-apocalyptic track, so leave it to those darn spiritual descendants to muck it all up. Romero claims his Road of the Dead has had a difficult … uh, path, given the ubiquity of The Walking Dead these days.

Seven years in, The Walking Dead was bound to conflict with fan-favorites taking other work. AMC’s horror smash usually takes precedence, but according to recent reports, at least three Walking Dead favorites will have reduced roles in Season 8.

We’re now eight seasons into The Walking Dead, and three into companion series Fear The Walking Dead, so there’s no pretending the world is fighting back. An extended new featurette for the latter’s June premiere cements as much, also revealing exactly what became of Madison, Travis, Nick, Strand and Alicia since Season 2.

Walking Dead companion series Fear The Walking Dead will join its partner in Season 3 with a full sixteen episodes, though a fourth year remained in question after the departure of showrunner Dave Erickson. Fear not, as the series will indeed return for Season 4, and with a more direct Walking Dead connection.

AMC’s Walking Dead rarely strays too far off the beaten path of Robert Kirkman’s comics, as the recent Season 7 finale proved with the kickoff to “All Out War.” There’s plenty of immediate ground to cover in Season 8, but might the next run bring us to another major story shift from the books? The Walking Dead may have come to a close, but Fear will rise anew this June. Season 3 of Fear The Walking Dead has officially set a double-premiere for Season 3, also releasing its first footage and new photos of the companion series’ return.
