Every second week in October, Selma celebrates the age old southern tradition of story-telling will the Tale Tellin' Festival.

This event began when Kathryn Tucker Windham, an Alabama native known for her outstanding stories, decided that this celebration of the spoken word was something that could bring the citizens Selma together. Both nights of the festival, families and friends gather around and share stories. There is also live music and guest speakers each night who showcase their own tall tales.

If you want to join in the fun, this year's festivities will be held October 11th and 12th and will coincide with Riverfront Market day, an arts and crafts festival. Tickets are  $15 for each night or $25 for both nights.
