Singer-Songwriter Jason Isbell Plays Tuscaloosa

I'll admit to letting Isbell's new record Southeastern completely engulf my music landscape for nearly a year now. Rolling Stone magazine ranked it 7th on their "10 Best Country Albums of 2013" list behind Keith Urban and ahead of the Pistol Annies. A righteous feat seeing as how the record has had little or no country radio airplay. That is a true testament to the power of Southeastern.

Tonight he'll be joined by special guest Amanda Shires. An artist who shares the same legal last name as Jason and shares the stage with him most nights as a member of his band. Toward the end of 2013, Shires managed to release another one of the best records of the year, Down Fell the Doves.
