Northport Fire Rescue Captain Jason Norris announced on Tuesday, that local firefighters have another weapon to add to their fire fighting arsenal.

Their recent acquisition of an Unmanned Ariel Vehicle or 'drone' enables surveillance of large structure fires that aide in determining structure integrity, safer identification of potentially hazardous materials and rescue recon previously unreachable until now.

The public was invited to attend a public demonstration on Wednesday and see the drone in action.
