We're 5 days away from Christmas and according to the Mayans, we're one day from doom but that doesn't stop news from happening. Here's my look at Bama basketball, bulletproof packpacks, Justin Moore, and more! Ha!

ALABAMA NEWS: Strong storms rolled through Alabama earlier this morning creating havoc in some towns. The most powerful line of the storms hit Mobile where there have been reports and pictures of toppled trucks, downed trees and limbs and roofs torn from their structures. ABC 33/40 meteorologist James Spann reports that we can expect the skies to clear tonight but temperatures to be much colder as they slip down into the upper-20s.

NATIONAL NEWS: Body armor companies are having a surge of sales for bulletproof backpacks following the last Friday’s Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. A company called Amendment II manufactures lightweight armor for law enforcement and the military. They began inserting their technology into kids' backpacks six months ago and since the Sandy Hook massacre, have seen a 500% spike in their sales.

SPORTS: Last night, the Crimson Tide men’s basketball team held off the Texas Tech Red Raiders to get their 7th victory of the year and improve their record to 7-3. Most importantly they snapped a three game losing streak. Saturday afternoon the Tide takes on Mercer in Coleman Coliseum. Airtime for that game is noon with tip off set for 1pm.

ENTERTAINMENT: One of my favorite movies, ‘A Christmas Story’, is one of 25 new films selected for preservation into the National Film Registry! Doesn’t mean a whole lot to you and I but I believe it now helps to support my claim that ‘A Christmas Story’ is THE BEST Christmas movie ever made! (Lots of love to ‘Christmas Vacation’)

MUSIC: Justin Moore announced on Twitter that he was headed into the studio to begin work on a new record. The Tweet read, “Day 1 recording album #3! Can’t wait to get new music out for y’all”. We can’t wait!

RANDOM FACT OF THE DAY: There are 118 ridges around the edge of a dime and 119 around the edge of a quarter.
