To help encourage children to learn about entrepreneurship in Tuscaloosa, Mayor Walt Maddox presented a proclamation declaring June 18 Lemonade Day in the city.

The national event is a one-day opportunity for children to open a lemonade stand with the support of local businesses, and it's free to all kids 12 years of age or younger. All you have to do is register your child they will receive a free entrepreneur workbook and backpack to get started.

Each participant will have an adult mentor (teacher, parent, youth organization leader, etc.) that will work with them through each of the 14 lessons for starting your business. Once that's completed, each child can create a business plan that will be put into action on June 18.

The best part is all of the money you earn is yours to keep! You can save it, spend it, or share it. If you do really well, you even have the chance to send in your results to compete in city and national contests.

You can find everything you need to know on participating, volunteering, or sponsoring this event here, and contact Tuscaloosa Lemonade Day Director Julie Salter for more information at julie.salter@townsquaremedia.com or 205.345.7200.
