Have stuff just taking space and collecting dust?  The Humane Society of West Alabama wants it for a large flea market they are planning in 2016!

The local animal shelter has teamed up TD Estate Sales to host the event, but they need stuff to sell.  That's where you come in!  You know what they say, ones person's trash is another person's treasure!

Plus, your donations are tax deductible.  Yeah, squeeze in that before the 2015 calendar year closes out.

Donation Items Being Accepted:

The Humane Society of West Alabama happily accepts the following new or gently used items.  Please make sure all items are clean and in good working order.

  • Working Flat-panel monitor HDTVs only (with the exception of rear-projection HDTVs) TVs may not be older than 5 years old
  • Jewelry
  • Records, compact disks and DVDs (no VHS tapes please)
  • Games, toys and sports equipment
  • Housewares: dishes, glassware, kitchen utensils, lamps and small appliances IN WORKING ORDER
  • Collectibles, antiques, knickknacks and other giftware. Must be clean and undamaged
  • Hand tools and small power tools in good working order
  • Electronics: Stereos, radios, VCRs, DVD players, etc. in good working order
  • Linens - Good Sheets, towels and Blankets
  • Furniture: Small pieces of furniture ONLY.  NO LARGE FURNITURE.  NO MATTRESSES.
  • The week before the sale we may take larger furniture pieces – These must be evaluated on and individual basis. NO UPHOLSTERED ITEM

Donations Not Being Accepted:

It's hard to say "no thank you" to a donation when those donations help to fund Humane Society programs. However, HSWA will need to refuse some items for being non-recyclable or containing hazardous materials.

  • CRT and DLP TVs, or rear-projection flat screen HDTVs
  • Cribs, STROLLERS, OR CAR SEATS
  • No household chemical products such as pesticides, paint, paint thinner, drain cleaner, oven cleaner, aerosols and other environmentally-unfriendly waste products.
  • No automotive hazardous waste such as tires, lead acid batteries, additives, gasoline, oils, antifreeze, etc.
  • No large appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, stoves/ovens, washers/dryers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, furnaces, microwaves, trash compactors, water heaters, large console stereos, freon-based appliances, etc.
  • No personal care items such as shampoo, conditioner, nail polish remover, shaving cream, hairsprays, shavers, curling irons
  • No fragrance items
  • No mattresses/box springs, including waterbed mattresses and waterbed frames
  • No carpet or carpet padding
  • No plumbing fixtures or building materials
  • No traditional recyclables such as glass, newsprint, office paper, cardboard, plastics, magazines, junk mail, etc.
  • No cribs, car seats, walkers or other products that do not meet the current safety standards of the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, including recalled items.
