Many have been lucky enough to witness the sun rise over Tuscaloosa but do we ever listen to the sounds of a new day beginning in our city?

I took a different route to work this morning and was rewarded with a breathtaking sky. I've been collecting locations in Tuscaloosa where I want to watch and photograph the sun rise. The hill at Woods & Water was one of them.

I nearly evaporated waiting for the world's longest red light to change at the intersection at Skyland and McFarland Boulevard because the sky was changing by the second. The right-side tires on my car may have actually left the road for an immeasurable nth of a second when I took the curve driving up to the top of the hill.

I never made it to the top. Midway up the hill, I  started filming and as I watched a new day unfold before me the sounds of birds and squirrels and other busy creatures provided a magical soundtrack.

Listen and imagine how even more amazing the video would have been if I'd actually turned my car off.
