I spent a lot of time in high school trying to figure out geometry and chemistry, but after graduating I haven't used it another day in my life. I have, however, had to fend for myself in the REAL world - teaching myself practical skills that I WISH were taught in school. So if any principals are reading this, here's a list of "LIFE SKILLS" I think should be taught in school:

1.  Home improvement. I.e. how to fix a toilet that's running, how to hang a shelf, changing a fuse or air filter.

2.  Basic car maintenance.  I.e. How to jump start your battery, check the air pressure in your tires, check/change oil. Just basic stuff.

3.  How to stick to a budget.  This might be a topic in home economics, but frankly, it should be the entire class agenda.

4.  Self-defense.

5.  How to do your taxes.  WOULD BE A BIG HELP!
