If you're tired of the gloomy, wet weather that's been hanging over Tuscaloosa the last few days, bad news -- more of the same is on the way, including multiple days of soaking rain that threaten to saturate the ground with water and cause flooding across Central Alabama.

According to the latest forecasts from the National Weather Service, Tuscaloosa and its surrounds can expect "several rounds of moderate to heavy rainfall across the
area this week."

The NWS's hydrologic outlook calls for three to six inches of rain across much of Central Alabama, with some areas seeing even higher localized amounts.

That much rainfall will likely lead to minor to moderate flooding of area rivers, including the Black Warrior, the NWS reported.

"In addition to river flooding, areal flooding from prolonged rainfall or flash flooding from more intense rainfall could also become a problem later this week as soils remain saturated and periods of rainfall continue," NWS meteorologists said. "Interests across Central Alabama are urged to monitor the latest forecasts and weather developments, and be prepared to take protective actions if flooding develops.
