I've had people asking me for three weeks now what I am going as for Halloween and until today I've really haven't known what I was going as or if I was even going to worry with it.

I'm running the Freaky Friday 8K tonight, and earlier today, as I was getting my stuff together for the run, it hit me, I'll go as a St. Jude Hero!

Now I do realize that not everyone may know what that is. So I went to the St. Jude Heroes website to get an exact description.

St. Jude Heroes are more than runners. They are helping find cures and save children battling cancer and other deadly diseases.

Together, we fund raise and race as a group. I've ran as a Hero in the St. Jude Memphis Half Marathon 3 times and in the St. Jude Country Music Half Marathon in Nashville once and each time, the experience gets more rewarding. The feeling of knowing I've done what I can do to eradicate childhood cancer and to keep the groundbreaking research and discoveries toward finding a cure going at this amazing facility is beyond anything I could ever describe.

I will proudly run as a St. Jude Hero through the streets of Memphis again this December but tonight, I'll take to the streets of Northport and run with my friends as a Hero for the Freaky Friday 8K. Once a St. Jude Hero, always a St. Jude Hero.
