As we all become tired of the cloudy, cold and sometimes wet winter days, it's songs like Kenny Chesney's 'Pirate Flag' that swoop in to pull us from despair.

A good old fashioned country summer song! I love 'em! This time of year I want to hear songs about water, flip-flops, bikinis, summer sun and boat drinks!

Currently on 95.3 The Bear we've got a new batch of those songs from 'Get Your Shine On' to Zac Brown Band's 'Jump Right In'. The minute they come on, you're transported from the confines of your office or car and taken to an island where you've got your feet anchored in the sand and your butt planted firmly on a chair or towel.

Kenny Chesney's 'Pirate Flag' is another great example of the type of song I'm talking about. He sings of leaving behind the ho-hum life of traffic jams and desk work for a metaphorical pirate flag.

Mixologist Jeremy McDaniel at RumShopRyan.com has created "Pirate Flag the Drink", the perfect alcoholic compliment to Chesney's ode to skulls & crossbones.

Ingredients:
  • 2oz Black spiced rum (his recipe calls for Capt. Morgan but I used The Kraken)
  • Splash of lime juice
  • 4oz coconut water
  • 1/2oz nutmeg syrup (2 cups sugar, 1 1/2 cup water, 3/4 cup nutmeg, med heat stir til dissolved)

Mix ingredients in glass with ice. Stir and drink! You might even be able to enjoy this at Kenny Chesney's Seattle concert that we'll be sending one lucky winner to! Let's toast to warmer days and hotter nights!
