Alabama junior guard Algie Key will transfer from Alabama, according to an announcement by Crimson Tide men’s basketball head coach Anthony Grant on Wednesday.

“We are extremely appreciative of the contributions Algie made to our program throughout last season,” Grant said. “He is a quality young man and we wish him the best as he continues to pursue his goals as a student-athlete. ”

Key came to Alabama after spending two years at Barton (Kan.) Community College where he was tabbed a two-time JUCO All-American.

In his lone season at Alabama in 2013-14, Key played in all 32 contests, making nine starts. He finished the campaign averaging 3.7 points, 2.3 rebounds and 15.4 minutes per game.

“I would like to thank coach Grant and the coaching staff for the opportunity to be a part of the Alabama basketball program,” Key said. “I would also like to thank my teammates and the Alabama fans for the love and support they have shown me.”
