Jamie Dykes was traveling down Highway 43 North late in the afternoon on March 31st when she encountered an erratic driver weaving in and out of traffic on the wrong side,  forcing several motorists from the roadway.

A Good Samaritan followed the car and as the reckless driver approached the intersection at Mitt Larry and Rose Boulevard, executed a PIT maneuver, pinning the dangerous driver against the guard rail. The hero then removed a man from the vehicle and held him until NPD arrived.

A field sobriety test was administered and the driver was placed under arrest for DUI, which according to Dykes, was the individual's second arrest in 5 months. He was booked into the Tuscaloosa County Metro jail.

Dykes says the Good Samaritan, who she believes works at Alabama Power, saved lives that afternoon and in doing so, damaged his vehicle as a result of the PIT maneuver.

One of the witnesses forced from the roadway by the drunk driver said she was still trying to get her bearings when she saw a 'Ninja mini-van appear out of no where' to neutralize the swerving car.

Dykes is withholding the gentleman's name temporarily, but asks if there are any in the community who would like to help pitch in and pay for the repairs to his car.

Can we help our local hero? If you'd like to make a donation reach out to Jamie Dykes on Facebook for more information.

Very special thanks to Kim Perkins for the heads up!

Amazing Update!: Kelli Hallman sent a message on behalf of Wayne Brown with Brown's Garage and Body Shop who have offered to make the repairs to our hero's vehicle!
