Good Luck, Scott Shepherd!

A few months ago while sitting in the Bear studio's, Scott leaned back in his chair and started tapping his pen on his knee. Since working together since 2009, I've grown to understand this is a sign that the man is bursting at the seams with excitement, nervousness and determination.

I'd known for some time that he had something cooking but that isn't unusual. Scott Shepherd ALWAYS had something going on. I just waited for him to tell me when he was ready to share.

He leaned over the console and clacked around on the computer. 'I know you're not going to believe me, ' he said, both sheepish and stubborn,'but I'm opening a business the first of January and it's going to be amazing.'

I listened with surprising interest as he explained the concept of the 9Round 30 Minute Kickboxing Fitness he was now a proud partner in. He was eager for questions and I had plenty. '9Round', he said, 'is the ultimate 30 minute workout and the end of a boring cardio. Members can take advantage of a 30 minute circuit, no set class times, total body workout and a personal trainer included at no extra cost'.

For the past three or four months, I've listened to Scott speak with various city, fire, engineer, UPS workers, and loads more as he and his brother-in-law Jeremy slogged through small-town bureaucracy. He hung in there and didn't give up and as result, he'll open the doors to his new business 9Round on McFarland Boulevard next to Chicken Salad Chick in Northport TODAY.

I'm looking forward to him making good on the promise he made to get his butt in gear by the time he was forty and even though he's LATE, so am I. I'll cut him some slack.

Good Luck ,Scott Shepherd! I believed in you from the very start. Once you got past the 'get rich quick' mentality, I knew you'd do fine. You're smart, intelligent and wickedly funny, who's a good friend. You and your family deserve a good break!
