The entire weekend at the 2015 Tuscaloosa Regional Air Show seemed to be one big highlight reel with our US military showing off the finest machines in their arsenal.

Whether it was the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, U.S. Marine Corps MV-22 Osprey, Sky Soldiers AH-1 Cobra Demonstration Team, the advanced aerobatics of daredevil's Gary Ward and Rob Holland, or any of the performers this weekend, there was non stop excitement in the air over Tuscaloosa.

After the show was over, my son and I discussed our favorite performance of the day and both agreed that the Blue Angels flying in the diamond formation with just 18 inches between their planes was definitely the coolest. Then we both stopped and thought further and agreed the Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor making a "slow pass" was fairly intense and memorable.

Below is a video of that "slow pass." To give you some background, what the pilot is doing  is actually called thrust vectoring. Thrust vectoring the ability of an aircraft, rocket, or other vehicle to manipulate the direction of the thrust from its engine(s) or motor in order to control the attitude or angular velocity of the vehicle.

At top speeds, the F-22 Raptor can hit Mach 2.25 or 1,500 mph. When making a "slow pass" this fighter jet can slow down to around 70 mph.
