You couldn't have asked for a better day this past Saturday for the 12th annual Doctors' Day 10K at Munny Sokol Park.

The wind would cut through you and seemed relentless at times while running the course but no one complained about the weather or the perfect blue sky. Hundreds warmed up at the start line in support of the Tuscaloosa County Medical Alliance which gave profits from the race to local health-related projects and agencies like The Good Samaritan Clinic, The Boys and Girls Club, Turning Point, Eagles’ Wings, A Woman's Place, and two local soup bowl services.

I was excited to be running my second race with Ainsley's Angels. The feeling I got from running the Tuscaloosa Half Marathon with them and our Angel Rider Athlete Kylie was almost unexplainable. The rush of emotions and adrenaline I experienced at the finish line was intoxicating. Saturday was my chance to do that all over again and I welcomed it. This time I would be pushing Angel Rider Athlete Hank for six miles around Sokol Park with my fellow Angel Amy.

As you can see from the pictures, it's exactly as they say, "Smiles at every mile!" The best part of the Doctors' Day 10K wasn't the weather or the most comfortable race shirts ever, but the smile on Hank's face when I put the 2015 Ainsley's Angels' Finisher's Medal around his neck.

On April 25th I will again put on my pink and black shirt to run with them in the Tuscaloosa Mayor's Cup 5K.
