This morning, I decided to take a look at the receipts I'd been keeping in my wallet.  Most of them, I'd held on to because they were either for an item I wasn't sure I wouldn't have to return or they had surveys printed on the back.

Having worked in the service sector, I am big on customer service.  I will not talk on my phone while at a cash register. I try to be as cordial a possible to service employees because I know not all people are.  I realize they don't owe me anything but to do their jobs and that going beyond the call of duty is one's personal decision.  It could be one of the greatest decisions to make, but it's still a matter of a personal decision. I've been a secret shopper before, and I've worked for businesses with secret shoppers.

Over the past few years, I've noticed that more businesses seem to be more aware of the importance of customer service.  Many don't go as far as having secret shoppers per se, but they do give customers surveys on the back of receipts.

Do you fill them out?  Do you think businesses really care about survey responses, or do you think they're a way to fake concern while gathering consumer information?
