For the first time since before Thanksgiving, DCH Health System is treating less than 100 inpatients for the novel Coronavirus.

As of 2:44 p.m. Thursday, the health care provider was treating 94 inpatients for COVID-19. 23 of those inpatients are in the Intensive Care Unit and 13 COVID-19 positive patients have been placed on a ventilator.

DCH has seen a steady decline in COVID-19 positive patients in recent weeks and recorded a record-high 191 inpatients January 19th.

While the numbers of COVID-19 positive patients continues to decrease, the effects of the pandemic are still placing a tremendous strain on the DCH Health System. Residents of West Alabama are advised to continue to do their part to prevent the spread of the novel Coronavirus by practicing social distancing, wearing face coverings, and utilizing frequent hand washing.
