When a US Air Force Historian passed through Blountsville, Alabama, he discovered a piece NASA history in a scrap yard that could fetch over $140,000 at auction.

A forgotten Lunar Rover developed by NASA as a prototype sat rusting in a back garden for more than 40 years before being sold to a scrap yard is now expected to reach over $140,000 at auction.

In 2014, a US Air Force Historian was passing through Blountsville, Alabama  and noticed the moon buggy. He determined the craft had never blasted into space, but the Local Scientific Survey Module was instrumental in developing the machines used on the Moon for the Apollo 15 mission in 1972.

The buggy, developed by Brown Engineering in Alabama, was part of a top secret $25.4 billion Apollo project before the craft eventually disappeared from NASA in the 1970s. It was eventually rediscovered 50 miles from where it was originally built.

This incredible piece of history will be sold for auction by RR Auctions.
