It's never too early to educate our children about the political process, as one Alabama teen has decided to run for a seat on his city council.

Chase Holcombe is attempting to run for the Florence City Council District 5 seat but has run into a snag as he turned 18 today. Unfortunately, qualifying for municipal elections ended yesterday. This fact alone led to a two-week legal battle over age requirements. State law says that candidates have to be registered and qualified voters. Holcombe is a registered voter, but at the end of the qualifying period, he was not a qualified voter.

Luckily, a circuit judge ruled Monday that he could run for office. So, it looks like Holcombe is on the fast track to starting his political career.
