The Alabama Crimson Tide came out for its first offensive snaps with redshirt freshman Jalen Milroe starting at quarterback. Milroe is making his first start for the Tide due to a shoulder injury Bryce Young suffered in the second quarter against Arkansas last week.

Milroe has made eight appearances in his short time in Tuscaloosa. He's completed 19-of-34 passes for 192 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. Milroe is a gifted athlete and he's taken 27 carries for 220 yards and a touchdown.

The Katy, Texas-native was considered a 4-star prospect in the 2021 recruiting class. He originally committed to the Texas Longhorns but flipped his commitment to the Crimson Tide in August of 2020.

He entered the Arkansas game with the Crimson Tide up 14-0 and led the Tide to a 49-26 victory. Milroe raced through the Arkansas defense on a 3rd-and-15 in the fourth quarter for a 77-yard play to flip momentum and keep Alabama from being upset in Fayetteville.

Alabama head coach Nick Saban called Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young, "day-to-day" all week and it appears he will be held out as the Tide tries to avenge its 2021 loss in College Station.

The superstar junior reportedly has an AC Joint strain and according to sources threw in practice this week very sparingly.

Alabama still enters Saturday night's game as a 24-point favorite despite opening up the primetime matchup without is best offensive player.
