Ty Herndon Announces Title, Release Date for New Album
Ty Herndon has finally revealed the name and release date for his much-anticipated new album. On Nov. 11, Herndon's 17th studio album Houseon Fire will hit record stores across the country.
House on Fire comes almost three years after Herndon's last album Lies I Told Myself and it's a record that he's been working on for a year and a half. The 54-year-old singer says it's his most personal album yet.
"This album is 18-months in the making," Herndon says. "The writing was intense at times, but we had a lot of fun throughout the process! This album is Ty Herndon to the very core of my heart and it is without a doubt the most honest and vulnerable album I've ever done."
It's no wonder that House on Fire is the most raw and honest for Herndon. It's the first album the singer has released since he came out as gay in 2014. His announcement was a brave one considering the historically homophobic nature of the country music industry, but it certainly paid off as Herndon was met with open arms. He says he saw the opportunity as a way to encourage others who are struggling with their identity.
"All that keeps running through my mind is: It’s time to get to work," Herndon said after the positive reaction to his coming out. "There’s so much work to be done in the South with all these kids that are struggling so greatly with finding love and support and finding a place to go to feel loved and supported."
That work, it seems, has resulted in a new album that Herndon hopes will relate to and encourage listeners around the world.
"It is an album about heart and soul, with songs that everyone can relate to. My hope is that anyone who hears these songs will catch a small piece of his or her life through the music and my story."
House on Fire marks Herndon's first album with BFD through Sony/RED Distribution and a return to the Sony family, where he made his debut in 1995. The album is set to release on Nov. 11, but will be available for pre-order on Oct. 12 on Amazon and iTunes.
