The University of Alabama's athletic year might have officially ended last month, but the school still brought home another title for 2016.

On a recent trip to Crooked Island, Mark Pugh dove headfirst into the water. He had no rod, no reel and no bait. Just his hands and when he emerged again, he held an amazing prize: a shark.

We spent the weekend in Miller's Ferry. We enjoyed a couple days on the river running trot lines. We set out two with about 30 hooks on each. We had a good couple days.

This past Sunday morning I spent day break on the Alabama River in Wilcox County with two fishing poles and about 50 minnows in a bucket and my brother-n-law, Jonathan. We were Crappie fishing. We put in below the Lock and watched the sun come up as we turned off the river into  Beaver Creek.
