In May, Alabama gymnastics legend Dana Duckworth decided to step down from her role in the program as head coach. Duckworth was involved with Crimson Tide gymnastics as a competitor, volunteer, assistant coach and even head coach but decided after 27 years it was time to move into something different.
Priess-Johnston will be formally introduced in a press conference on Friday. She becomes the seventh head coach in program history and just the third 1979. Priess-Johnston is a two-time national SEC Champion and made All-SEC three times during her college career at The Capstone.
Tuscaloosa, Alabama, may have been chilly on Friday but Coleman Coliseum was quite the opposite, as the No. 10 Crimson Tide gymnastics team picked up its first win of the season against the No. 9 Kentucky Wildcats 197.650-196.275.
