George Barber, the millionaire who commissioned the Elberta dinosaurs, is also responsible for Lady in the Lake, a sculpture done by the great Mark Cline.

In January 2012, Barber decided to give Cline a ring and suggest he construct a 50-foot woman with a face as beautiful as Sara Evans and Catherine Zeta-Jones combined. Naturally, Cline assumed he wanted the girl to be standing in one of Barber's fields but Barber just laughed.

Cline had some trouble wrapping his mind around trying to float an extremely large fiberglass woman in the Barber Marina. He got the idea of hiding giant styrofoam blocks between the lady's head and legs from a group of Virginia Military Academy students who were seeking advice on how to build a concrete canoe.

According to Cline, if the woman stood erect, she would be 108 feet tall.
