Tuscaloosa City Schools is, for the first time, requesting proposals as they aim to create "a diverse portfolio of high-quality public charter schools."

In a Monday press release, a spokesperson for Tuscaloosa City Schools the school district was recently approved by the Alabama Department of Education as a charter authorizer and has now initiated the process of accepting applications.

They are now issuing their inaugural request for character schools proposals, another step forward.

Interested parties can learn more on the TCS website, which says they envision "a diverse portfolio of high-quality public charter schools that foster innovation, close achievement gaps, and prepare students for success in college, career, and life."

TCS said formal written notice of intent to apply is due on November 8th, 2024, then the full applications are due for submission closer to the end of the month.
