A 52-year-old Moundville man was killed when he was struck by a vehicle on a Hale County highway Saturday night.

Senior Trooper Gregory Corble, a spokesperson for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency State Troopers, said Michael E. Snipes of Moundville was a pedestrian on Alabama State Route 60 at the time he was hit.

The Troopers report that an 18-year-old operating a 2004 Honda Civic struck Snipes around 11:20 p.m. Saturday.

Snipes, 52, was pronounced dead at the scene of impact, which took place about a mile south of Akron, Alabama, in Hale County.

No other information was available on Monday morning as the Troopers continue investigating the deadly collision.
